Our design effectively captures harmful fumes using a special hood and two fans that create strong suction to pull the smoke away from the user. While traditional extractors may offer more power, they are bulky and expensive. Our design provides an affordable and portable alternative with sufficient efficiency for small-scale soldering tasks.
How did you test the efficiency of your prototype in capturing toxic fumes?
We tested the prototype by conducting controlled soldering experiments in a closed environment. We observed how quickly the smoke was removed and used visual inspections and air quality sensors to check for residual fumes.
